A household central air-conditioning production plant for giant electrical appliances manufacturer Midea Group is to be built in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) – located in Wuhan city, capital of Central China's Hubei province – in the wake of an agreement signed on Nov 6.
The plant will cost 800 million yuan ($121.68 million) and begin ramping up production in 2021, achieving an annual output value of 10-12 billion yuan after reaching full production capacity.
Back on Feb 28 in 2004, the Midea Home Air Conditioner Wuhan Industrial Park was officially launched in the WHDZ, covering an area of 800 mu (53 hectares).
On March 24 this year, the industrial park resumed work and production in the wake of the novel coronavirus outbreak and production capacity has now been fully restored. As of October, a total of 6.41 million household air conditioners have been produced in the park in the current year.
The Midea air-conditioning plant will include infrastructure, a final assembly line and support facilities. The current project planning has basically been finished.
In March 2021, equipment installation and trial production will be completed and production will be officially launched in April.
The project will apply advanced automation technology, information technology and intelligent logistics technology to turn the Wuhan facility into an intelligent factory that is compliant with the industrial internet.
