Wuhan city -- in Central China's Hubei province -- has been incorporated into the strategic development plans of more global companies, after they signed contracts with Wuhan-based groups at the third China International Import Expo (CIIE), which winds up on Nov 10.
On Nov 6, Wuhan-based Jointown Pharmaceutical Group signed a strategic cooperation project at CIIE totaling 500 million yuan ($76.05 million) with Omron, a Fortune Global 500 company.
Officials said the project will help more patients improve their medical experience and health management under the combined effect of Omron's innovative technology and Jointown's innovative business model.
In addition, Jointown signed a contract at the expo with German group Braun to buy hemodialysis machines and other medical dialysis products for 100 million yuan.
Mitsubishi Electric, a Fortune Global 500 company, also signed a contract. It has been operating in Wuhan for nearly 20 years and currently it has six branches in the city that carry out various ventures including electromechanical, automation and auto parts businesses.
In the food exhibition area of the CIIE, Tyson Foods Inc, a Fortune Global 500 company from the United States, brought a variety of flagship products such as chicken, beef and pork. This year's CIIE is also the first time that Tyson participated in the expo.
According to Tyson's company representative, Wuhan will become Tyson's key product logistics hub area in China. At present, plans are to build a base there for the Central China region integrating production, sales and warehousing.
