Construction is progressing smoothly on crucial projects in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, including the Zhuankou Six Villages Project and Wuhan Subway Line 16 Project, according to local media reports.

The Zhuankou Six Villages Project is the largest prefabricated housing demonstration project in Central China.

The development consists of 29 high-rise residential buildings and public facilities. Wuhan Chedu Group Co has invested in it, and the Green Investment Company, a subsidiary of China Construction Third Bureau Co, is responsible for the general contracting of project management. Construction will last three years.

The Zhuankou Six Villages Project is currently in the main construction phase. Three high-rise buildings have been completed and capped, and the construction of the remaining 26 buildings is expected to be completed before 2021.

Meanwhile, Wuhan Subway Line 16 has a completed track length of 5 kilometers at present, and the main structures at five stations are finished.

It is expected that the main structures of 11 stations will be completed by the end of this year, and the whole line – including tunnels and rails – is expected to be completed in the first half of 2021.

Line 16, as one of the subway lines running through the WHDZ (also known as Hannan), is a city-area line with a target speed of 120 kilometers per hour. It is the fastest subway line currently designed in Wuhan and will serve as a fast rail transit line connecting Hannan with the city's main urban area.

The line starts at Shamao Zhoujiahe Station in the south of the city and ends at Wuhan International Expo Center South Station in the north.

Once completed, the new line will span a total distance of 33.1 kilometers and have 12 stations. Passengers will be able to transfer to Line 6 at Laoguancun and Wuhan International Expo Center stations.
