Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, launched its serial sports and cultural activities on Oct 1 at Wuhan Sports Center, according to local media reports.

Wuhan Sports Center set up a wealth of cultural and sports activities for the eight-day event, including photography competitions, invitational exhibitions of works by the leading creative artists of the Military World Games, sports experiences and intelligent manufacturing and industrial displays. There were also running activities, which saw the broad participation of WHDZ residents.

The serial activities marked the first time since 2016 that Wuhan Sports Center had been fully opened to the public.

In 2016, due to the needs of the 7th CISM Military World Games, Wuhan Sports Center gradually closed and upgraded its facilities, aiming to host the opening and closing ceremonies and some competitions of the Military World Games.

On Feb 12, 2020, Wuhan Sports Center was turned into a makeshift hospital to treat patients with mild COVID-19 symptoms.

On March 8, the sports venue's medical mission concluded after the 875 patients being treated there were discharged.
