WHDZ plans 19 medical projects worth 7b yuan

Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) has confirmed 19 medical projects for 2020-2022 -- with total investment amounting to some 7 billion yuan ($104 million) -- which are aimed at improving the medical and health service capacity and level of the WHDZ, according to the development zone's health bureau.

By the end of this year, construction will begin on key projects such as Wuhan University's Heavy Ion Medicine Center, Phase II of Wuhan Union Hospital West Campus, Wuhan Children's Hospital West Campus, and the Comprehensive Public Health Service Center.

Preliminary work will be completed on the new batch of key projects such as the WHDZ’s Health Emergency Command Center, 120 Emergency Center, Mental Health Center, Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, and Dajunshan Hospital.

Before the end of 2021, the WHDZ's Second People's Hospital project will be planned and will have begun construction.

Before the end of 2022, a batch of sanitation construction projects will be basically completed, with a reasonable talent team structure in place as well as standardized management and the completion of the second-phase construction of the residents' health information system.

At present, a new round of upgrading of primary medical and health institution in the zone has officially started. The transformation of emergency isolation beds and critically ill beds prepared for epidemics has been completed, and a range of medical equipment has been deployed.
