Dassault Systèmes is to expand its presence in Wuhan in Central China's Hubei province, Zhang Ying, president of Dassault Systèmes Greater China, announced on Sept 15.

According to Zhang, Dassault Systèmes has just moved its Asia-Pacific headquarters from Japan to Shanghai, and it will now establish a system of nationwide coverage. Wuhan is an important city in Central China, and Dassault Systèmes hopes to use the city as a fulcrum to radiate across the entire Central China region.

Founded in 1981, Dassault Systèmes is the world's leading industrial software company and has been named one of the "World's Most Innovative Companies" by Forbes.

Dassault Systèmes is headquartered in Paris, France, and has an annual turnover of more than 4 billion Euros ($4.69 billion). It employs 7,517 engineers, accounting for approximately 39 percent of the total number of its employees.

The company has 270,000 customers in 140 countries and regions and provides services to customers in 11 industries, including automobiles, shipbuilding, and aerospace.

Through industrial software empowerment, the automobile R&D and manufacturing cycle can be greatly shortened.

For example, in the collision test of a new car before delivering it to customers, car manufacturers used to perform actual measurements and obtain relevant data to improve the design, but now they only need to use collision simulation software to obtain relevant data on the computer. This not only greatly reduces costs but also improves efficiency.

Zhang is very optimistic about the future development prospects of the Wuhan automobile market. After 30 years of development, Wuhan's automobile industry has provided a good skills, capital, and market environment for technological innovation.

"Dassault Systèmes hopes to take the lead in introducing science and technology through the plan of an industrial innovation center which is to be developed in Wuhan. It will then work with Wuhan to build a modern industrial system and introduce more projects and talents to Wuhan," Zhang added.
