China Electronics Corporation (CEC) is to establish its cloud global headquarters in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province.
The announcement was made at the CEC Cloud Strategy and Product Launch Conference, held in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Sept 9.
The headquarters project, which will be located in the WHDZ, will help Wuhan create a national digital economy innovation development pilot zone, and build itself into a national digital economy first-tier city.
The announcement marked another major strategic move by CEC in the field of the digital economy in Wuhan after it settled its Central China Regional Digital Industry Headquarters in the city in July.
The project will be started this year. After it reaches completion in 2025, it will achieve an annual sales revenue of 22 billion yuan ($3.22 billion) and become the operation center, settlement center and largest R&D center of CEC Cloud. The number of personnel is expected to reach 15,000, of which 8,000 -- mainly R&D personnel -- will be from Wuhan.
CEC Cloud is a new generation digital economy infrastructure built by CEC to integrate multi-party cloud service capabilities for governments, public service organizations, and large-scale group enterprises.
CEC Cloud adopts the "PK" system (Phytium CPU plus Kylin operating system), and joins the "S-Security" three-dimensional protection security trust chain to build the foundation of an independent core security technology, thus providing guarantee for the digital transformation and upgrading of both government and business customers.
In addition, CEC has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hubei province. It will focus on new infrastructure and digital transformation, and increase investment in cybersecurity informatization, industrial internet, intelligent manufacturing, medical and health big data, digital industrial parks and other fields to promote the high quality development of Hubei.
