A Chinese opera art festival featuring 15 opera performances and exchange activities is set to open at the Tanghu Theater in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Sept 12, according to local media reports.

The Wuhan Ximatou Chinese Opera Art Festival was founded in 2013 and has been successfully held seven times so far. It is a nationally renowned opera event.

Now in its eighth session, the festival will invite famous troupes and artists from across the country to give performances both online and offline. It will run from Sept 12 to 30.

The festival will feature famous opera artists from Wuhan and other places in Hubei province. It will also invite opera performers including Jiang Jianguo and Wang Rongrong to give themed performances, paying tribute to those fighting on the front line against the epidemic and the recent flooding.

The performances will be broadcast live online, allowing more viewers to watch it for free.
