WHDZ inks agreements for 12 major projects

A total of 12 projects from emerging industries will be introduced to the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province, with cooperation agreements signed during an investment promotion event held in Shanghai on Aug 25, according to local media reports.

The 12 projects, including the Huawei Intelligent Connected Innovation Center, Dongfeng Autonomous Driving Pilot Project, Chebai Intelligent Connected Research Institute, Uisee Intelligent Driving R&D Center and Bihui Power Battery Regeneration Technology Project, cover emerging industries such as intelligent network connection, autonomous driving, new energy and smart home science and technology innovation and development, with a total investment of 6.04 billion yuan ($877 million).

Huawei Technology Co will build an innovation laboratory in the WHDZ and the Intelligent Connected Automobile Industry Cloud and Huawei (Wuhan) Intelligent Connected Automobile Industry Cloud Innovation Laboratory. The company will also support constructing an innovation demonstration zone for intelligent connected cars and smart transportation.

Huawei will jointly build new infrastructure with the development zone to explore application scenarios for intelligent connected vehicles, such as autonomous driving development platforms, smart parking, smart public transport and smart logistics.

Wuhan New Energy and Intelligent Vehicle Innovation Center is to invest in a new intelligent connected research institute in WHDZ and actively participate in the construction and operation of the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone, which is in the WHDZ.

Uisee intends to build a smart car multi-scenario application R&D and promotion operation base in the WHDZ to carry out major demonstration projects for the deep integration of unmanned driving and the real economy.
