WHDZ incentivizes development of intelligent connected vehicles

The Several Measures to Promote the Innovation and Development of the Intelligent Connected Vehicles (ICV) Industry formulated by the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) is seeking public opinions and will be formally implemented at the beginning of September.

The Measures have 16 supportive actions covering six primary areas, including ICV technology research and development, product testing, demonstration applications and industrial ecological construction, and award up to 200 million yuan ($29.08 million) to eligible companies.

According to the Measures, newly introduced national headquarters projects with core technologies in critical areas and capital expenditures of no less than 200 million yuan or valued at more than 2 billion, can receive up to 40 percent of the total project investment. The total reward amount cannot exceed 200 million yuan.

There is also strong support for enterprise R&D, production and office space. The Measures clarify that for newly introduced ICV industry projects in key areas that rent industrial plants or self-use office buildings, a maximum subsidy of 20 million yuan will be provided. For those purchasing industrial land, priority shall be given to land use indicators.

The Measures also give clear support in promoting technological innovation and achievement transformation and building infrastructure for intelligent networked vehicles.

For example, enterprises, colleges, universities and research institutions will be rewarded up to 20 million yuan for core technology research.
