Industrial robot base breaks ground in WHDZ

According to local media reports, construction on a HIT Robot Group (HRG) Wuhan Industrial Base began on Aug 19 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province.

The project will draw an investment of 1.2 billion yuan ($174 million) and help Wuhan establish a fully functional robot and intelligent equipment industrial system.

The HRG Wuhan Industrial Base will cover 155.6 mu (10.37 hectares) in the General Aviation and Satellite Industrial Park in the WHDZ.

The project will focus on manufacturing in the robotics industry, focusing on intelligent equipment production for the automotive industry, aerospace equipment development, shipbuilding industry manufacturing and new materials.

The robot-focused industrial base should be completed in July 2022. Its annual output value is expected to reach 1.5 billion yuan within five years after the first phase begins operations.

According to HRG officials, more than 20 upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain will be introduced to the base within three years of initial operation.
