A beer festival opened on Aug 15 in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province, attracting wide participation from WHDZ residents, according to local media reports.

WHDZ is one of the branch venues in Wuhan chosen to host the one-week beer festival, which is the first large-scale entertainment and consumption event since the city lifted its 76-day lockdown. The festival is intended to stimulate the city’s nighttime economy.

The suds fest will run until Aug 21, with various artistic performances set to be staged and 1,000 cans of beer being offered to residents free of charge.

According to officials, local authorities have established special teams to guarantee epidemic prevention and control measures are followed during the festival.
