A marketing promotion co-launched by Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) and e-commerce giant JD opened on Aug 7 -- in the WHDZ in Wuhan city, in Central China’s Hubei province -- aiming to boost sales of the zone’s products, according to local media reports.

More than 20 kinds of WHDZ products were on display, including automobiles, air conditioners, home appliances, beverages and Wuhan hot-dry noodles with sesame paste.

WHDZ officials said the normal, physical promotion was combined with an online livestreaming, promoting the deep integration of the manufacturing industry and the internet.

As of August 7, the livestreaming events launched on JD and Douyin from 3 to 6 pm attracted 3.2 million online viewers and gained more than 10 million likes.

The online sales volume hit 3.8 million ($546,060), officials said.

According to the WHDZ’s plans, from now to the end of August, 30 livestreaming events will be held.

Officials said it is expected that the total number of online viewers will reach 80 million.
