Fitness centers located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- in Wuhan, Central China’s Hubei province -- were opened free with reservations on Aug 8, according to WHDZ officials.
They said the centers that suspended their entrance fees on the day included the Wuhan Sports Center Natatorium and Wuhan Sports Center Soccer Park.
In line with the novel coronavirus epidemic prevention and control requirements, the natatorium – a major indoor swimming pool complex – is currently dividing its opening hours into four periods and each period has a limit of 80 people.
According to staff members, every three hours constitutes a period. At the end of each period, the pool complex will be disinfected before the next period of operations.
Officials said that in September, the Wuhan Sports Center will open its gymnasium and badminton training hall. In November, the media center will be renamed as the Wuhan Sports International Cultural Exchange Center and will launch ice events and fencing events.
In December, tennis courts and basketball parks will be open to the public.
According to Wuhan Sports Center staff members, moving forwards there are plans to build a complex that will include rock climbing, roller skating, ice hockey and fencing.
Officials said it will meet the diverse fitness needs of residents and promote the development of diverse national fitness services.
