Management from the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) gave a briefing on the progress of major projects currently underway in the development zone – located in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province – according to WHDZ officials.
The projects include Wuhan Metro Line 16 and Zuo’an Avenue projects, they said.
As of July 16, the WHDZ had completed investment of 15.36 billion yuan ($2.20 billion) in urban construction, accounting for 53.67 percent of the annual target.
Construction work on Wuhan Metro Line 16 resumed in WHDZ earlier in April, officials said.
Metro Line 16 is a fast track linking the WHDZ and the downtown area of Wuhan. It will be the fastest line in Wuhan, with trains able to travel at around 120 kilometers per hour.
The line starts from Zhoujiahe Village Station in the south and ends at Wuhan International Expo Center South Station in the north, passing through Shamao Avenue, Jingkai Avenue and Mayi River.
Covering a total length of 32.4 kilometers, the line will have 12 stations, two of which will be transfer stations.
The Line 16 project has a total investment of 16.97 billion yuan. To date, construction on the main structure of four stations -- including Mayinghe and Zhuankou stations -- has been completed.
After completion, passengers will be able to transfer to Line 6 at Laoguan Village Station -- and to Line 6, Line 11 and Line 12 at Wuhan International Expo Center South Station.
The Zuo’an Avenue project is 48 kilometers in length. In the current year, construction has begun on Fenglin Sixth Road to Chuanjiangchi Road and its supporting integrated pipeline system.
