High-tech leader China Electronic Co, or CEC, is to establish its Central China digital industry headquarters in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- located in Wuhan city in Central China’s Hubei province -- according to WHDZ officials.

The project includes the establishment of the CEC Central China R&D Center, the CEC Electronics Industry Digitalization Research Institute, the Digital Industry Alliance, the CEC Central China Digital Economy Industrial Park and the Central China Industry Cloud.

Founded in 1989, CEC is China’s largest State-owned IT enterprise based in Beijing. The company mainly provides electronic information technology products and services.

In recent years, the WHDZ has expanded its industrial transformation and upgrading, paved the way forward for a multi-industry support system and successfully moved to attract investment.

Over the past three years, the development zone has signed contracts for 252 major projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan ($14.29 million) each. WHDZ officials said the total investment of the 252 projects totaled a staggering 682.1 billion yuan.

Among the projects, 49 projects were funded by Fortune 500 international companies and 33 by State-owned enterprises administered by the central government, officials said.
