The number 79378 train, carrying 675 tons of products including auto parts, departed Wuhan city in Central China’s Hubei province on July 14 heading for East China’s mega city of Shanghai -- marking the launch of an important new freight train service, rail officials said.
The total distance of the new freight train route is 1,034 kilometers and the entire journey takes around 29 hours.
The new freight train service is scheduled to make five trips a week, meeting the production needs of Shanghai companies, officials said.
This is the third freight train service along the Yangtze River launched by Wuhan, following the Wuhan-Ningbo freight train service launched on May 2 and the Wuhan-Jinhua freight train service launched on June 1.
Railway freight transportation has the advantages of large transportation volume, low risk of cargo damage, all-weather operations, safety and stability.
At the same time, the railway departments have given great support to the operation of freight train services along the Yangtze River, officials added.
