Dongfeng Motor Co to develop NEV base in Wuhan

Dongfeng Motor Co -- the biggest auto manufacturer based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan, in Central China’s Hubei province -- is to develop a new energy passenger vehicle center in Wuhan, with an investment of 46 billion yuan ($6.59 billion), according to local media reports.

The company signed contracts for its PNP Wuhan Innovation Center Project and a series of 10 other projects during a cloud investment promotions event held on May 15. Plug and Play is a US-headquartered venture capital and business development group.

For the PNP Wuhan Innovation Center Project, Dongfeng will work with Plug and Play, relying on the its innovation ecology and Dongfeng’s industrial advantages, to build an innovation center that focuses on mobile travel.

The 10 other projects will focus on industry trends and implement three types of transformation and upgrading.

They are mainly involved in key areas such as technological innovation, sales, intelligent networking, digital construction and intelligent manufacturing.
