The Wuhan Children’s Hospital West Campus is expected to complete construction in September 2022 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province -- according to WHDZ officials.

Construction work on the project resumed in April after the improvement in novel coronavirus conditions and is being carried out in accordance with the standards of Grade 3, Class A hospitals.

Officials said the hospital is scheduled to open for business by the end of 2022.

Located at the intersection of Fangcao Second Road and Haitang Road, the new facility cost 830 million yuan ($117.17 million).

It covers an area of about 37 mu (2.47 hectares) and has a total construction area of 120,000 square meters. It will be equipped with 660 beds and 1,300 parking spaces.

Officials said it features a 12-story inpatient building, a three-story medical technology building, four-story outpatient building and a two-level basement.

Children’s playgrounds will also be set up in the hospital grounds.

The hospital will provide maternity and child health services centered on child medical care, women's health and family planning technical services, supported by clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Officials said the design of the hospital buildings highlight energy conservation and environmental protection and introduce natural light to the greatest extent.
