In May, auto manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Co marked growth in sales volumes with a total of 318,000 vehicles sold, a year-on-year increase of 16.6 percent, according to the official WeChat account of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ).
Based in the WHDZ -- located in Wuhan city in China’s Central Hubei province -- Dongfeng Motor Co sold 238,000 passenger cars in May, an increase of 8.3 percent year-on-year; and 79,600 commercial vehicles, an increase of 51.7 percent.
A company spokesman said the domestic auto market has gradually recovered as the novel coronavirus epidemic has been strictly controlled.
According to the latest data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers on June 11, national car sales in May were 2.194 million units, a year-on-year increase of 14.5 percent.
