Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- located in Wuhan city, in Central China’s Hubei province -- has been developing a closed test site for intelligent network-connected vehicles, to lay the foundations for the transformation and upgrading of the auto industry in the zone, according to a meeting held on June 13.

The meeting attendees, including WHDZ officials, listened to the latest progress in the construction of the intelligent network-connected vehicle closed test field, analyzed the problems raised by the project and redeployed current construction work.

According to the meeting, the zone made the construction of the test site a top priority.

Officials said it has adopted high-standard planning and designs and is conducting a great deal of special research into the matter.

The test site has a planned area of 1,312 mu, or 87.47 hectares.

Officials said it will build dozens of features including extreme test roads, flexible squares, long straight roads, roundabouts and extreme climate environment test areas, which can meet the exacting needs of hundreds of scenarios.

At present, the design plan for the test site is about to be completed and the project will start construction in the near future.
