Hongshan Primary School -- in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), located in Wuhan city in Central China’s Hubei province -- has launched a virtual reality course platform at an online news conference on June 6, according WHDZ officials.

A total of 6,000 teaching staff members from across the country gathered online with the students and parents of the school to appreciate the advantages of VR cloud courses.

Officials said the school has transformed a multi-function classroom into a VR cloud course hall and each course hall has a course and corresponding course resources.

The teachers have made micro-videos of the courses and generated QR codes. Online courses can be accessed by scanning the QR codes.

Students enter the school's WeChat platform, click on the "panoramic campus" and they can enter each virtual course hall to view and learn.

"During the (novel coronavirus) epidemic, thanks to the VR cloud courses, our child can learn music, art, sports and other courses online every day," a parent said.

“We can freely choose courses according to the needs of our child, which is very convenient".

The VR course platform is divided into campus culture, science and art courses and class culture. Students can learn robot courses, digital programing, music and other courses on the platform and all the courses are arranged by the school teachers.

So far, the VR course platform has accumulated 9,419 viewers.

Officials said that in the future, the school will explore a richer education model based on the VR platform and create a first-class digital education teaching platform.
