The Smart Eco-city -- located in Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ), in Wuhan city in Central China’s Hubei province -- has made marked progress in attracting investment so far this year, according to WHDZ officials.
They said that contracts were signed in the first four months worth 11.8 billion yuan ($1.67 billion).
The eco-city currently provides services for 140 companies, with a total of 23 projects underway.
The development orientation of the Smart Eco-city focuses on making intelligent connected vehicles, robots, next generation information technology and new energy and new materials.
Those main industries are followed by ventures in culture, sports and health.
According to WHDZ officials, it is of major importance to focus on the construction in the eco-city of a national intelligent, connected vehicle demonstration applications base.
Also, accelerating the pace of economic development and speeding up industrial agglomeration there and the integration of industry and the city are of importance.
Officials said that to date, the eco-city has developed a major headquarters economy, scientific and technological innovation and cultural tourism projects -- including Sunac’s WHDZ International Smart City, the CAS Advanced Technology Research Institute and the Orsun Ice and Snow Town projects.
