The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) is accelerating the construction of its 5G network -- with cloud investment, cloud livestreaming and 5G infrared thermal imaging human body temperature measurement equipment gaining in popularity -- according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.
The WHDZ is located in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province.
Officials said that after full resumption of production – after the novel coronavirus outbreak abated -- many companies in the WHDZ began to actively explore online development models, turning crisis into opportunity.
They said that cloud investments and cloud livestreaming have become a viable business option for many of the WHDZ’s resident enterprises.
One example of that took place recently. On May 19 -- using 5G signals -- the Chedu Intelligent Manufacturing Hubei Gree industrial product livestreaming promotional event was held successfully, officials said.
The event lasted two and a half hours and it generated transaction orders worth nearly 400,000 yuan ($56,491).
Experts said that as a leading representative of the country’s new infrastructure, 5G is the new driver supporting the high-quality development of the economy and society.
Since the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak, the WHDZ has made full use of the advantages of 5G network and information technology.
Among the initiatives are cloud teacher lectures and cloud doctor consultations, which are examples of a range of moves that together are helping the prevention and control of the epidemic and the resumption of work and production.
At present, the zone plans to complete installation of the first batch of 500 5G base stations in 2020 and to date 195 have been completed.
Officials said the zone is using the 5G network platform to start livestreaming promotional events for products sales.
Intelligent networked driverless cars are being promoted this way. Elsewhere, 5G infrared thermal imaging human body automatic temperature measurement systems have been promoted, officials added.
