An on-site jobs fair targeting college and university graduates was recently held at Jianghan University in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- located in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province -- according to WHDZ officials.

They said it marked Wuhan city’s first jobs fair held on campus since the novel coronavirus epidemic.

A total of 86 companies attended the event, offering 2,394 job opportunities, covering areas including new generation information technology, high-end equipment, new materials, biomedicines, energy saving and environmental protection, education and training, as well as the logistics sector.

According to statistics, a total of 2,752 resumes were received by the companies, leading expressions of interest issued to 831 graduates.

According to officials, a total of 317,000 students from 83 colleges and universities in Wuhan are to graduate in 2020. Affected by the COVID-19 epidemic, the graduate employment rate this year has dropped slightly compared with previous years.

Difficulties in employment have increased and the number of job opportunities offered by small and medium-sized enterprises has declined, leading to a decline in the employment rate of college students.

Wuhan has issued a series of policies as well as 20 measures, including the payment of employment allowances, to guarantee the employment of college and university graduates.

On the same day, the 2020 Wuhan College Graduate Employment and Entrepreneurship Service Guide was also released, officials announced.

The guide explains the issues of most concern including the latest employment and entrepreneurship policies, personnel archives, Party organization relations and household registrations.

Wuhan will hold another eight offline job fairs during the June to July period for recent university graduates, covering fields such as the modern services industry and the financial industry.
