Dongfeng Motor Co launched two new models of Sharing-Smart autonomous driving vehicles on May 26 -- a sweeper and a patrol car -- according to the official WeChat account of the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ).

The two vehicles made in the WHDZ -- in Wuhan city in Central China’s Hubei province -- have two sets of driving solutions for L4 level automatic driving and 4G/5G parallel driving.

Level 4 autonomy is where a vehicle is fully autonomous, but only in certain conditions. The driver does not need to be fully in control during travel, but must take over suddenly when the vehicle is no longer able to handle a situation.

The Dongfeng Sharing-Smart unmanned patrol car is a model customized and developed by the Dongfeng Technology Center, according to the work requirements of Wuhan public security bureau rail branch.

Officials said it has functions such as night vision patrol, security, evacuation, face temperature measurement recognition and installed police equipment.

The Dongfeng Sharing-Smart unmanned sweeping vehicle is equipped with automatic driving and 5G remote driving solutions, which combines cleaning and disinfection functions. It can process about 7,000 square meters of pollutants per hour, which is equivalent to cleaning the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge twice per hour.

The unmanned sweeping vehicle can complete sanitation work under complex environment and road conditions and officials said it has good market prospects
