Auto manufacturer Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co -- based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone in Wuhan, in Central China’s Hubei province -- was recently selected in the first batch of 11 Wuhan Mingpin certification pilot companies, according to a report in the Changjiang Daily.
The Wuhan Mingpin (Wuhan Famous Brands) aims to showcase the high quality of Wuhan products.
Officials said the Wuhan Mingpin selection has introduced the internationally accepted third-party certification method for the first time to evaluate a batch of high-quality Wuhan products (services) according to the certification model for enterprise applications, third-party certifications, social trust and government supervision.
The 11 pilot enterprises selected were selected from 133 businesses that met the general requirements for the evaluation of Wuhan Mingpin after multiple rounds of selection.
Experts said brand is the core competitiveness of an enterprise operating in an open market. Statistics show that well-known brands account for only three percent of global trademarks, but they occupy 40 percent of the global market and 50 percent of sales.
Officials said that after several years of effort, Wuhan has initially formed a Wuhan Mingpin certification system and a cultivation mechanism.
Next, Wuhan plans to expand market support and brand marketing efforts for Wuhan Mingpin, so that leading Chinese brands can further promote the development of the manufacturing industry in Wuhan.
Auto manufacturer Dongfeng Honda is the first company in Wuhan's industrial sector that achieved annual output value of over 100 billion yuan ($14.05 billion) without owning any subsidiary companies.
