The Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) is to boost its links to Jianghan University -- to help attract more talented professionals and develop cultural and sports, public health and major other projects -- according to discussion held in a forum in the WHDZ on May 7.
According to the forum, Jianghan University will develop new academic disciplines and scientific research around the industries resident in the WHDZ and seek to continually improve the levels and characteristics of the school.
Officials said Jianghan University will work with key enterprises in the WHDZ to boost regional economic development.
Located in the WHDZ -- in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province -- Jianghan University is a general institute of higher education.
Apart from the location of the campus there are other links to the zone. A notable one is the China Racing Academy, which was founded in June 2018. It is the first motor sports racing academy in China and was co-established by Jianghan University, the WHDZ, Wuhan sports bureau and the China Automobile and Motorcycle Federation.
In 2019, the academy recruited its first batch of 48 students from Hubei and Guangdong provinces. The students were divided into two majors: racing events and racing engineering.
In recent years, the WHDZ and Jianghan University have carried out strategic cooperation on the economic and social development of the WHDZ, training of personnel, innovation and entrepreneurship.
