A conference was held on May 8 in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) -- in Wuhan city, in Central China's Hubei province -- themed on boosting the zone’s medical health system, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.

WHDZ officials said the zone will accelerate the formulation of a three-year action plan for the development of its public health systems.

Focusing on reforms to the medical and health field, it will increase the construction of grass-roots medical facilities and the recruitment and training of staff -- to continuously improve the capacity of services and the quality levels of the medical and health system in the zone.

At the end of last year there were a total of 170 medical and health institutions and 3,337 health professional and technical personnel in the WHDZ.

Currently, there are four major medical projects under construction in the zone, six new upgrade projects and 10 projects are planned to be completed by the end of 2022.

In addition, the WHDZ is to establish four medical treatment alliances led by Wuhan Union Hospital West Campus and Hannan Renmin Hospital.
