Construction work on an artificial intelligence science park project is currently in full swing in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) --- in Wuhan city in Central China's Hubei province -- according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.
Zone officials report significant progress since September 2018, when the AI science park project was launched in WHDZ, attracting an investment of 2 billion yuan ($282 million) for the project.
The park is expected among other things to establish an incubation center and a science and technology innovation center to help develop artificial intelligence startups, attract upstream and downstream businesses and form an industrial cluster.
WHDZ officials said the scientific research buildings in the park are near completion and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by September this year.
They said that after completion, the project will become a national artificial intelligence industry hub and a makerspace base.
