Dongfeng Motor Corporation is to build an additional manufacturing plant and a test center in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) – in Wuhan city in China’s Central Hubei province – which will boost the zone’s industrial development and transformation, according to WHDZ officials.
They made their remarks following a signing ceremony which was held on April 8.
Officials said the Dongfeng New Energy Industrial Park Project is a major strategic initiative being undertaken by the company to develop key core technologies and resources and promote the industrialization of new energy vehicles.
The project will build major production lines for new energy vehicle batteries, motors, and electric controls -- as well as test facilities for intelligent driving and hydrogen fuel -- and Dongfeng is committed to providing its customers with integrated power system solutions, a company spokesman said.
After the project is completed, the plant will be able to produce one million sets of electric drive assemblies and 10,000 sets of fuel cell power assemblies and there will also be a national-level testing and testing center.
The spokesman said another project being constructed at the WHDZ involves an integrated logistics facility.
He said the new facility will increase the concentration of its logistics business and enhance the core competitiveness of the automaker’s logistics operations.
Dongfeng plans to give full play to the advantages of scale and synergies to create a modern logistics group with core competitive advantages.
Estimates are that by 2025, the annual operating income of Dongfeng Logistics will hit 15 billion yuan ($2.13 billion).
