As of March 20, a total of 453 companies based in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) had been approved to resume work and production, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.
These included 258 manufacturers above a designated scale, a statistical term referring to those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.82 million) or more.
Officials said a total of 231 WHDZ-based companies had completed resumption of work and output, with 179 being industrial enterprises above a designated scale.
On March 22, more than 80 workers had returned to their post at Electricfil Engine Components (Wuhan). The company’s main products include camshaft sensors, crankshaft sensors, speed sensors, sensor modules and other automotive engine and gearbox products.
Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, the company has been actively preparing to resume output and work, buying protective clothing, masks, ethyl alcohol and other protective materials for its employees.
At present, the company's daily production capacity is 35,000 pieces, taking its current output to nearly 60 percent of its normal production capacity.
In order to expand the return to work and production in the zone, the WHDZ has chartered special buses. For resident companies with employees living in suburban areas, the zone arranged buses for pick-up and has sent some 5,000 employees to their companies so far.
Employees are required to live in 2,390 dormitories arranged by the WHDZ with 7,122 beds.
In addition,, the zone has introduced 18 measures for enterprises. These are designed to reducing the burden on businesses, strengthen financial support, increase assistance to stabilize enterprises, strengthen industrial support and optimize government services.
Officials said more than 2 billion yuan in financial funds are expected to be issued to companies.
