Jianghan University, located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone, has been making great strides in novel coronavirus pneumonia prevention and control, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.

The Affiliated Hospital of Jianghan University -- also known as Wuhan No 6 Hospital -- is one of the third batch of hospitals designated for patients with the fever.

The hospital has provided 500 beds and to date has treated more than 1,100 patients with fever, with 712 declared cured and discharged. Treatment is being given by a total of 948 frontline medical workers at the hospital.

On Feb 4, more than 100 faculty members from Jianghan University set up a sub-command center for the 120 First Aid Center for Epidemic Prevention and Control.

Zone officials said they took up posts in an office converted from a school conference room.

The staff worked three shifts and answered calls from patients and their families 24 hours a day. They continuously transmitted information about urgent and critical patients to the ambulance command center and received more than 8,000 calls.

On Feb 8, the university provided seven student dormitories to establish isolation points. More than 800 of its faculty members took the initiative to organize and pack student belongings, clean up student dormitories and built 600 isolated observation rooms.

Since Feb 9, the school has organized more than 500 Party members and cadres to visit more than 200 communities in 14 districts of the city, to accurately meet the needs of the community and bolster the front-line forces for community prevention and control.
