Four communities, 51 housing estates as well as Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) were all confirmed as epidemic-free, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.

Wuhan city, in China's Central Hubei province, is the epicenter of the novel coronavirus epidemic in China.

Zone officials said that to be declared epidemic-free, two requirements should be met.

First, there must be no confirmed cases of coronavirus pneumonia for more than 14 days from the date of application. There have to be no confirmed cases of the virus for at least 14 consecutive days -- and suspected cases, fever cases and close contacts must also been released from quarantine.

Second, all of the prevention and control methods should be in place. Efforts should have been made in publicity and guidance, closed-off management, investigations and screening, disinfection, supply guarantees and orderly arrangements.

As of 18:00 hrs. on March 5, there were 2,076 epidemic-free housing estates, 79 epidemic-free communities and 1,171 epidemic-free villages (brigades) in Wuhan city.
