Junshan upgrades coronavirus quarantine, treatment station

A novel coronavirus treatment station in Junshan sub-district in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (also known as WHDZ) was recently full renovated and upgraded to become a full emergency pop-up hospital with 1,000 beds – to provide better services for patients and staff members, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.

The transformation was completed on Feb 19, taking only three days and one day ahead of schedule. 

WHDZ officials said it has adopted integrated sewage treatment equipment and indoor and outdoor greenery areas have also been established, providing a more comfortable and beautiful environment for medical staff and patients.  

The new facility has a construction area of 5,700 square meters, with 1,000 beds. It will now receive coronavirus patients with mild symptoms.

WHDZ officials said that in order to avoid cross-infection, the facility was renovated in accordance with the standard of six square meters of living space per person  

The original plan was to accommodate two people per room but it was later changed to one person. In addition, curtains were installed in every room.
