Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) has taken steps to further help its residents by providing vegetable packages at low prices and ensuring the distribution of bulk purchase packages for groups, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.
According to WHDZ officials, in recent years the zone has vigorously developed modern agriculture. At present, there are 12 large-scale green vegetable production bases in its Hannan area.
By coordinating enterprises to directly serve the community in the form of packaged meals, residents can have fresh vegetables and meat.
Ten large and medium-sized supermarkets in the WHDZ on Feb 24 launched 10-yuan ($1.44) vegetable packages for low-income groups. The main varieties include Chinese cabbages, cabbages, white radishes, carrots and potatoes.
Officials said that according to the needs of its residents, the supermarkets continue to enrich the package varieties.
The zone has also implemented a special program targeting families in need, providing about 1,000 servings per day. Each serving contains three to five kinds of vegetables. All are supplied directly at the price of 1 yuan for 500 grams, to ensure their popularity.
As more communities in the WHDZ adopt closed-off management, the numbers of bulk purchase packages for groups are increasing.
Officials said the zone urgently coordinated 19 types of logistics vehicles, to ensure timely and effective distribution by the supermarkets.
