Enterprising staff at Fenghua Wei'an community in Dunkou sub-street – in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) – on Feb 2 kick started a buying-in service for food and daily necessities for its residents, helping ensure their daily lives continue as usual, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.
The community currently has 1,264 households with a total population of 4,116 residents.
To beef up their efforts in novel coronavirus prevention and control, the community staff began purchasing the goods so that residents could go out less and reduce their risk of infection.
On Feb 2, staff members, along with some volunteers, went to Yongwang Supermarket and ordered 60 packages of vegetables.
A QR code is attached to every package and after receiving the items, locals scanned it to pay for them.
Zone officials explained that with the community having adopted a closed-off management, the supermarket no longer accepted individuals.
The community staff members ordered vegetables online for locals. With their growing demand for meat, eggs, noodle and fruits, the community staff members successfully contacted Huading Tuanshan, a WHDZ-based catering company, to supply them.
Huading Tuanshan was selected because of its long-term links with Dongfeng Honda's logistics. Secondly, the business directly transports goods to the various buildings in the community, solving that problem.
According to the needs of residents, Huading Tuanshan is dividing packages they offer into four types. Package A contains vegetables, B has meat, C has noodles and D contains fruit.
