Fifteen medical teams help with virus control in WHDZ

Updated: 2020-02-28

A total of 15 medical teams consisting of 1,483 medical workers -- coming from places including Beijing, Guangdong province, Hunan province and Heilongjiang province -- have been working hard at Wuhan Union Hospital West Campus in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) to advance prevention and control of the novel coronavirus, according to WHDZ officials.

They said there are a total of 810 beds in the hospital. The facility has set up 15 general wards, including one ward with 50 beds, one maternal ward with 40 beds and one ICU critical ward with 20 beds.

The Guangzhou medical team is responsible for the ICU ward and the Heilongjiang medical team is responsible for the maternity ward.

As the number of medical teams from places outside Hubei province continues to grow, the hospital has developed a system which facilitates orderly and efficient management.

In addition, the 17 ward areas of the hospital have been divided into five major medical groups, making it  more convenient for medical workers to conduct discussions on difficult and severe diseases and have joint consultations.
