Employees of the Xiangkou sub-district in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) are now buying and delivering food and daily necessities in order to provide more convenience for locals, according to WHDZ officials.

The communities of the sub-district began closed-off management in an effort to fight the novel coronavirus pneumonia.

Wu Pian, a community employee, immediately contacted the nearby supermarket and merchants, while calculating the needs for daily supplies after discussing the matter with residents in their WeChat group.

Wu posted the choices of packages offered by the supermarkets and merchants in the WeChat group chats and answered residents' questions.

More than 30 households sent purchase package requests and she sat in the office to sort out the residents' needs until the order was read at 1 am in the morning.

Community employee Zhou Tao is responsible for the delivery of the purchased items.

He got to the Huaxia Supermarket at 14:30 hrs on Feb 19 and took the 13 vegetable packages ordered by the residents into his car.

He then delivered the packages as well as some daily necessities, including ice, cooking oil and toilet paper, to the residents on an electromobile as cars are not allowed to enter the communities.
