Wuhan Union Hospital West Campus -- located in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in Wuhan in central Hubei province -- has introduced a mobile CAT scan radiology room called a CT Ark to improve treatment of novel coronavirus pneumonia patients, according to WHDZ officials.
They said some 60 patients from the new Wuhan Sports Center cabin hospitals received a CAT scan on the day.
Officials added that a patient surnamed Lin was the first to user the CT Ark. She went to the CT Ark for a lung examination before being discharged from hospital.
The examination took about five minutes and the scanned image was transmitted to an imaging diagnosis doctor for diagnosis in real time through optical fiber.
Officials said that with this device, after the results come out patients can use the hospital's self-service printer to print the test results.
According to Yang Lian, head of the radiology department, the CT Ark is an independent unit. The operation room is completely isolated from the examination room, so that the scan-disinfection-scan process can be realized and cross-infection between doctors and patients can be avoided.
The CT Ark can achieve effective isolation and effective protection, which greatly facilitates early CAT scan diagnosis and subsequent release reviews for patients with coronavirus pneumonia.
