WHDZ's Dunkou strengthens residents screening

Updated: 2020-02-21

Dunkou sub-district in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) in central Hubei province has significantly strengthened its screening of residents in an effort to prove triumphant in its moves toward novel coronavirus pneumonia prevention and control, WHDZ officials said.

According to a report chinanews.com, there are 12 communities and 31 housing estates in the Dunkou sub-district.

A total of 563 people -- including sub-district officials, police officers and community staff members -- are to carry out health screenings and follow up investigations of residents.

Communities will conduct the task using online methods including WeChat group chats, applets and mobile phones.

More than 90 percent of residents can be reached via online investigations, ensuring the efficient completion of most of the screening.

For people who cannot be reached via online methods and people who return to Wuhan from places outside Wuhan, community staff members are to form 125 inspection teams with volunteers for door-to-door visits.

For confirmed coronavirus sufferers, suspected infections and close contracts, staff members will give in-depth inspections and record information on basic conditions and basic needs.

They will verify the information and register it, one by one, officials said.
