Dunkou zone's cabin hospital receives first patients

A makeshift cabin hospital in Dunkou Economic Development Zone -- in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone in the city of Wuhan in Hubei province -- was officially opened and received its first patients on Feb 12, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.

The cabin hospital was designed to treat infected patients suffering from mild symptoms of the novel coronavirus pneumonia. 

The cabin hospital has a capacity of 1,100 beds, zone officials said, and medical workers from hospitals in the WHDZ and from Anhui, Guizhou and Jiangsu provinces will provide diagnosis and treatment for patients.

The hospital's admission criteria for patients is:

Diagnosis of novel coronavirus pneumonia;

Clinical condition divided into mild or ordinary patients;

Patients have ability to take care of themselves, aged 18-65 years old;

No underlying diseases and mental illness;

Influenza virus nucleic acid test result is negative.

Officials said that as of 4 pm on Feb 13, the cabin hospital had received a total of 409 patients.

In order to provide a good environment for medical treatment, the cabin hospital had a large number of supplies for assistance transferred over. 

Zone officials said the hospital provides patients with breakfast, lunch and dinner, which are transported by special transport vehicles. While ensuring food safety, they also pay attention to the nutritional content of the dishes. 

The hospital also places electric blankets under the mattresses to provide more comfort for the patients. 

The hospital is also equipped with free WiFi and there are reading corners for patients to read and study, while each compartment is equipped with a television.
