Construction work on the China (Wuhan) Zhonggu project officially began in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone in Wuhan, capital city of central Hubei province on Jan 19, according to the official WeChat account of the WHDZ.
The Wuhan Hannan Zhonggu – literally, crop farming valley project – will cover an area of 200 hectares. It is being funded and developed by Country Garden and BGI Agriculture Group, with a total investment of 8 billion yuan ($1.16 billion).
WHDZ officials said it will be a facility integrating breeding research and development, technology integration, industry incubation and displays of research achievements.
The project plans to recruit 500 top professionals, establish three to five key laboratories, platforms or engineering centers at or above the provincial level and attract at least 30 businesses.
