Wuhan maps out metro loop line linking central urban areas

Wuhan, capital city of central Hubei province, is to add its first metro loop line with construction work starting in 2020, according to a report in the Changjiang Daily.

The Wuhan Rail Transit Line 12, at 59.9 kilometers in length, will pass through seven central urban areas of Wuhan and will terminate at Wuchang Railway Station and Hankou Railway Station.

According to statistics by the end of 2019, Wuhan’s metro lines had reached 339 kilometers in total length, making it one of the country’s biggest city metro systems.

Line 12 will start at Wuchang Railway Station, passing through Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang, with a total of 37 stations. It will be connected to 14 metro lines: Lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16 and 21.

Some sections of the Line 12 are expected to be open for passengers in 2022.
