The Motorola RAZR -- a foldable mobile phone produced in Wuhan, capital city of Central China’s Hubei province -- stole the limelight at the third China Industrial Design Exhibition which opened on Dec 13 in Wuhan, according to a report in the Changjiang Daily.
According to Zou Fan, a staff member working at the three-day exhibition, the phone was released in the US market a month ago and received strong market feedback.
The phone continues Motorola's RAZR V3 classic clamshell design, incorporating new technology with folding screens into its clamshell design, which has been well received.
Enthusiasts say that after it folded several times, no crease can be seen on the screen of the mobile phone.
Based on the strong market response, the Wuhan base is ramping up production and plans to launch the 5G version of the mobile phone in the domestic market next year.
The third China Industrial Design Exhibition had as its theme “Design Innovation, Green Development”.
It attracted global exhibitors, including well-known industrial design companies such as LKK, Artop, Feish, R&D Design and S.Point -- as well as industrial design centers for manufacturing companies such as CRRC, XCMG and BAIC.
The exhibition area was around 33,000 square meters. A total of 592 exhibitors took part in the event, setting a new record. In addition, guests and design companies from the United States, Germany, Japan, Austria and other countries joined in the event.
Wuhan has been making efforts in promoting its industrial design industry, with some 2,000 industrial design or product design companies having settled in the city so far.
It was the third consecutive year that Wuhan has hosted the industrial design exhibition since 2017.
At present, Wuhan has five national-level industrial design centers, ranking in the top among domestic cities.
