Work starts on German group Webasto’s new plant in Wuhan

Construction work on German auto parts supplier Webasto’s new plant began on Dec 4 in the Sino-German International Industrial Park in Wuhan, capital of central Hubei, according to local media reports.

The reports said the ground breaking started three months ahead of schedule.

Headquartered in Germany, Webasto is one of the world’s leading auto parts suppliers. The company has taken 50 percent of the global automotive sunroof market shares.

Webasto's core product range includes automotive sunroofs and convertible roof systems, heating systems for passenger cars, motor homes, ships, commercial vehicles and special vehicles, air conditioning systems and ventilation systems.

In addition, it also provides rear-mounted vehicle preheating systems and sunroofs for end users.

A company spokesman said Webasto's expertise in the automotive industry has also been transferred to other areas, such as sliding sunroofs for yachts.

For manufacturing companies, transportation is an extremely important.

According to official of Webasto’s Wuhan plant, the plant is being built in Wuhan because of the city’s favorable regional planning, and transportation conditions, as well its presence in the automobile industry.
