The Global Intelligent-Connected Automobile High-end Forum opened in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Dec 10, according to local media reports.
The WHDZ forum also witnessed the launch of Tusincere Wuhan Science and Technology Park, an industrial park with the next-generation automobile production as its pillar industry.
During the event, representatives from 40 companies signed contracts with Tusincere Wuhan Science and Technology Park.
In September, the first batch of intelligent network car unmanned trial operations licenses were issued in Wuhan city, marking the point when intelligent network vehicles are going into commercial operations.
Wuhan, also known as China’s Auto City, has been one of the forerunners in the automobile industry, as well as in the R&D of intelligent-connected automobiles.
Industry experts say intelligent connected cars are the development direction of new generation cars.
According to Made in China 2025, by 2020 an independent R&D system and a production supporting system for intelligent connected cars will be initially established.
The market for autonomous driving alone is expected to reach $800 billion by 2035.
