A delegation led by Zhang Jun, president of Wuhan Metro, visited the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WHDZ) on Dec 3, discussing issues related to the metro’s construction in the WHDZ, according to the official WeChat account of the zone.

A forum took place attended by the delegation and WHDZ officials including Peng Hao, director of the management committee of the zone. It focused on  certificate processing in the zone, land acquisition and the progress being made by the metro’s projects in the WHDZ.

Plans are for a total of six metro lines to run through the WHDZ -- namely Line 3, 6, 10, 16, 17 and 26.

Officials said the first phase of Line 3 and 6 has been completed. They said the second phase of Line 3 and the first phase of Line 16 is in progress.

The third phase of Line 6, Line 10 and the extension routes for Line 16, as well as Line 17 and Line 26, are the planned routes and construction work that will be carried out in the future.

The zone’s Peng Hao extended his warm welcome to the delegation.

He said rail transit was one of the most important parts of urban public transportation, as well as an important foundation for the continuous improvement of people's lives.

Peng said the WHDZ would, as always, support the development of Wuhan’s urban rail transit system.

Peng also called for closer ties in cooperation with Wuhan Metro to boost the development of the transportation infrastructure in the WHDZ.
