Students from WHDZ Experimental Primary School on Nov 15 displayed a high-tech model of a smart city that built, highlighting all the technical gadgetry that had installed, according to a statement by Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone.

The model included landmarks of Wuhan, the capital city of Central China’s Hubei province, including the Wuhan Civic Center, Wuhan Sports Center, Zhuankou Yangtze River Bridge and Wanda Plaza.

The young designers gave a talk and operated the model, which contained IoT technologies.

They used Lego components and sensors to form a smart stereo garage which can house three cars in one parking spot and solve the problem of insufficient parking space.

An intelligent vehicle weighing system prohibits overweight vehicles from entering the model’s bridge. The smart home can sense a car to open the garage doors, while a smart drying rack automatically retracts when it rains and visitors outside a house are displayed on the screen.

Founded in August 2012, the WHDZ Experimental Primary School is a full-time public school sponsored by the management committee of WHDZ, with a total investment of more than 70 million yuan ($9.94 million).

The school has an area of 26,680 square meters, including a floor area of 13,675 sq m.

Zone officials said that over the past few years, the school has gained a good reputation.

The school has launched a series of information technology courses with subjects including 3D printing, programming, robots, the internet of things, a smart duck shed and an intelligent ecological farm.

School officials said this had greatly broadened the horizons of students and promoted their abilities to solve problems in real life.
