Automobile manufacturers from home and abroad displayed their latest and hottest achievements at the 20th Wuhan Motor Show which got into gear in Wuhan, capital city of Central China’s Hubei province, on Nov 12, according to local media reports.
According to the organizers, the popular event will run through to Nov 17.
Themed on “Road to Central China’, the auto show is exhibiting more than 20 new models from car manufacturers including FAW-Volkswagen, FAW Toyota, Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Honda.
Since the hosting of the first show back in 1995, the scale of exhibition and the prestige of the auto industry has increased year by year.
Industry insiders say the role of technology and industrial chains has become more and more obvious.
The auto show witnessed the development of the automobile industry in Central China and has become a national-level industrial aggregation platform, showcasing the evolution of the sector in the region.
In 2016, Wuhan was officially selected as one of the first batch of six smart car and smart transportation application demonstration cities in China. Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone -- also known as WHDZ -- became one of the core zones for the construction of smart cars and smart transportation applications.
WHDZ boasts the National Intelligent Connected Vehicle (Wuhan) Test and Demonstration Zone, which is the only demonstration zone for multi-scenario smart car applications in China.
In September 2019, the world's first commercial license for self-driving vehicles was issued in Wuhan.
